I was explaining to my friend how I could talk to animals and how interesting their stories were. Her daughter was within earshot and asked if I could talk to her bearded dragon. She said that she was in the pet store and walked by his cage and felt him calling to her. She just had to have him. Not everyone in the family was crazy about this little guy and some of the family members wanted nothing to do with him. But as far as she was concerned he was the cutest thing ever.
I told her I would try but that I had never talked to a lizard before but what the heck, I'd give a try. He came into my white room right away looking around as if to say hey this is cool, where am I? He walked right up to me and crawled onto my hand like he'd known me forever. He likes to be petted too. He looked around very curious. He likes to observe all the action. He'll sit on his perch and watch everything going on around him for long periods of time. BUT he gets all excited when he sees Divine (my friends daughter). He loves her. He really likes his tummy rubbed, it puts him to sleep. I saw him on her shoulder burying himself in her hair. He loves her hair and could stay there all day.
I asked him what he likes to eat and I heard, "bugs". I asked if it was crickets and he said yes and he likes to let them hide so he can hunt them unless he's really hungry and then he just eats them in a hurry. I saw him doing a dance with his 2 front feet. He raises one then the other not going anywhere. I wasn't sure what that was all about, but it was cute. I felt like he did that when he was hungry and wants to be fed but wasn't really sure. I asked him how he felt about Nuke, the family dog, and got no concern at all.
After telling Divine what I had heard and saw after connecting with Dillon she said, "It's like you know my lizard."
I have to say that was one of the funnest connections I've had. I learned a lot about bearded dragons. I now want one.
